Today the Maryland Forward Party made two major announcements: Endorsing Governor Hogan For the Senate Voting Against Trump For President These have generated some concerns and negative comments that I’d like to address. I've removed their names to respect their privacy.

Comment #1: With Trump as the Republican nominee for President the Forward Party should not support or endorse ANY Republican candidate for any office.
My response: I joined the Forward Party and support it as a Volunteer because it put supporting and endorsing people ahead to political parties and platforms. Governor Hogan reached out to us to discuss getting our endorsement. His opponent was just not interested in talking with us. That tells me that one of the candidates is locked into the party messaging and the other candidate is interested in doing things that make sense and in the electoral reform that is desperately needed.
Comment #2: Hogan “will just vote along party lines”.
My response: There are no facts that support that statement, it is a baseless claim being made by the Democrat's political machine. Gov. Hogan has an 8 year history that is totally bipartisan and the support he got from both parties in his reelection is proof positive that his platform was to do what was best for Maryland and not what was best for the Republican Party. The Democratic Party is trying to get people to believe that he will be in lock step with Trump even though his record as governor clearly refutes that.
Comment #3: At this time of political crisis the Forward Party should only support and endorse candidates that are Democrats.
My response: I think that people who believe that the Forward Party should only support and endorse candidates that are Democrats just do not understand the real strength of the Forward Party. People that support only Democrats are not trying to counterbalance the MAGA Hard Right position, they are trying to advocate for the Hard Left position. The Forward Party has always been committed to supporting ethical candidates that will compromise and support electoral reform to bring back government by the people, not by two warring political parties.
Interestingly, the Maryland Forward Party also came out today with a strong statement that it will support Donald Trump's opponent, either Joe Biden or an alternate if he chooses to step down. At least initially that press release did not generate the same concerns and negative comments that the endorsement of Gov. Hogan did. I do not believe that this press release is in any conflict with their endorsement of Gov. Hogan. I am looking forward to see the comments when MAGA attacks the Forward Party for this position and plan to address some of those comments as well.
I do not speak for the Forward Party, just for myself as a supporter of that party.
