Chuck Borges served nearly 23 years in the US Navy, was decorated for valor in Combat in Iraq, and moved to Southern Maryland in 2004. As a disabled Veteran, Chuck worked as a civil servant in federal technology at GSA, OMB, CDC, and most recently at Social Security, where he stood up to DOGE as a Whistleblower to keep your data safe. Chuck has worked his entire life to protect the public, find solutions to its most pressing problems, and stand up for people and ethical leadership.

Well-planned policies will strengthen our agricultural roots, attract new business, and provide high-paying opportunities for everyone.  This economic resilience will protect our rural industry and environment, making us less prone to heavy industrial development that benefits so few.
  

• Small Business Innovation: Southern Maryland has a unique combination of agricultural expertise, technical savvy, and biodiversity that positions us to become a center for practical innovation on the East Coast. Well-planned policies will strengthen our agricultural roots, attract new business, and provide high-paying opportunities for all, while keeping tax dollars in the community and helping diversify our economy away from a single federal employer.
  

• Housing: Across the United States, housing costs are skyrocketing, making it impossible for our young people to afford a home. There are many reasons for this, and Chuck wants to tackle all of them. Let's explore expanding incentives for rebuilding what we have, take advantage of concepts such as infill, and expand use of modular housing and ADUs where appropriate.  Making housing more affordable requires a 'many options' approach, legislators who dig in, every day, and keep at the work, and leadership with lived experience in what works, and what doesn't.
  

• Family Support: In Maryland, we all do better when we all do better. We want our neighbors’ children to be successful and productive. Chuck will champion laws that help us where we need help and provide support to our families, such as Universal School Lunches and using data to improve funding allocations for public schools.
