Meet:
Diante Edwards
District 40
Maryland State Delegate
I am running for District 40 State Delegate because I believe in the power of servant leadership and giving a voice to our communities. Nothing is more important to me than the people I will represent having a seat at the table as we work together to implement affordability initiatives in housing, energy, and food costs. I am working in partnership with the Maryland Forward Party to directly address the issues that matter to West Baltimore because that is what truly matters, not any one party's platform.

Diante Edwards’ commitment to public service is rooted in his leadership in the Pigtown community, where he served four years as head of the Citizens of Pigtown neighborhood association. During that time, he secured more than $120,000 in grant funding to deliver community-driven projects that improved daily life for residents. He advanced public safety by working with the Baltimore City Department of Transportation to install speed humps and traffic calming measures, launching a needle cleanup and disposal program, and coordinating with partners to reduce violence and push back against open-air drug markets. Diante has also been a strong advocate for youth and recreation, helping champion the $3.5 million renovation and reopening of the Carroll Park Recreation Center.
Diante's advocacy for Carroll Park includes securing $50,000 in grant funding for the Carroll Park Gateways project and helping create a shovel-ready capital improvement plan that will mark the largest investment in the park in decades when built. Beyond Pigtown, Diante serves as the Program Committee Chair for the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership, where he leads the allocation of community grant funding to projects that reflect resident priorities and deliver measurable results. He is a U.S. Navy veteran who served 10 years on active duty, completed three deployments, and supported counterterrorism missions in high-pressure environments. The discipline, accountability, and servant leadership he developed in the Navy continue to guide his work in strengthening communities and delivering results for the people he serves.
