Meet:

Geonta Simmons

District 1

Anne Arundel County Council

I’m running to bring a new generation of leadership to Anne Arundel County and ensure every resident feels represented and heard in their local government." Too many working families feel disconnected from the decisions being made, and I’m proud to seek the Forward Party’s support because they share the belief that our politics should focus on solutions, not division.

Geonta Simmons

Geonta Simmons is a longtime resident of the Brooklyn Park community in Anne Arundel County and a dedicated advocate for local engagement and public service. In 2023, he was appointed to represent District 12B on the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee, where he has worked to connect residents with local government and encourage greater participation in the political process. Through his work on the Central Committee, Geonta has been committed to being boots on the ground in the community, helping educate residents about the importance of local elections and how down-ballot offices impact everyday life. His experiences have strengthened his belief that local government must do more to represent and invest in working families and underserved communities. He is now running for the Anne Arundel County Council to bring a new generation of leadership to local government and ensure that every community in District 1 has a voice. If elected, Geonta would become the youngest member ever elected to the Anne Arundel County Council at just 26 years old.

  • Strengthen public safety by increasing support for fire and police departments, improving staffing levels, and investing in modern technology and training.

  • Invest in public education by supporting Anne Arundel County Public School teachers and prioritizing improvements to aging school facilities.
