District 4
St. Mary's County Commissioner
As a decorated Marine-Corps combat-wounded veteran, I'm running to deliver common-sense leadership focused on our community and informed by the people who live here. The Forward Party's commitment to problem-solving over partisanship reflects how I believe government should work.

Meet:
Ryan Daniels
A native of St. Mary’s County, I was born at Patuxent River Naval Air Station and raised in a Navy family that instilled in me the values of service, sacrifice, and resilience. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving eight years as a Combat Engineer in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2011, I was wounded by an improvised explosive device and was awarded the Purple Heart. After reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant, I transitioned from military service in 2016 and dedicated myself to helping fellow veterans reintegrate into civilian life. I later worked as a federal employee at Patuxent River while serving as a veteran advocate, nonprofit leader, and consultant. My experiences at home and abroad, including the war in Ukraine, have strengthened my commitment to strong communities, effective leadership, and public service. I am proud to bring that dedication to serving the people of St. Mary’s County as County Commissioner.

Education Background
Following my military service, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security and a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership while working as a federal employee at Patuxent River. Through both higher education and the Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP), I developed the leadership, management, and strategic planning skills that continue to guide my work in public service and community advocacy.
