About Pj Benenati

I’ve always believed that life and the choices we make are more complicated than black or white. We live in a world of gray and our individual experiences provide different perspectives, to every person. My values come from my parents, who taught me to listen to others, be thoughtful and kind, and try your best to help make a positive change. I joined the Maryland Forward Party because I believe in a more respectful form of political discourse. I want to see us prioritizing people over party and policies and hope that we can see progressive positive change in our communities and across our nation.

  • Request for Gubernator Veto: A Dangerous Solution to a Legitimate Problem

On Saturday April 5, the Maryland Forward Party delivered an open letter to the office of Governor Moore requesting a vetoThe Party didn’t take this action lightly. Where possible, we believe it's important to resolve competing ideas in a collaborative environment, where all opinions are heard and considered.  This is fundamental to the Forward Party; a new and rapidly growing national political party that is rooted in bottom-up collaborative problem solving, regardless of traditional partisan stance.  Maryland Forward Party had previously submitted opposition testimony for both the House and Senate companion bills and yesterday issued a letter to The Office of State Attorney General Brown's office, for their interpretation of the bill language.

House Bill (HB) 41 / Senate Bill (SB) 267 is a piece of legislation that recently passed both chambers in the Maryland General Assembly.  This bill was sponsored by House Ways & Means Chair, Delegate Vanessa Atterbeary (D-Howard), and Senate Education, Energy and the Environment Chair, Senator Brian Feldman (D-Montgomery) by request of the State Board of Elections.  The stated intent of this legislation is:

“Altering the time periods during which a petition for the formation of a new political party or additional signatures to a petition may not be filed; and prohibiting signatures submitted with a petition that was officially determined as not meeting certain legal requirements from being resubmitted with a subsequent petition.”

    Forward Communities

Maryland Forward Party is growing this organization from the ground up.

Our intentional move away from the traditional 1-size-fits-all policy platform, means that we identify and then prioritize our top issues, as they relate to Maryland residents.  We look to you to help guide our legislative priorities.  What are the issues important to you and your communities?  What are the nuanced subtleties that need to be heard, so that the needs in your community are addressed and resolved?  Regardless of the political spectrum, we hope to meet voters where they are and target issues within their local context.  Issues in our rural communities might well be different from those in our urban ones, and both deserve to be heard and solved independently.

Please join us today! Sign up for any number of our Forward Communities.  These groups will grow organically over time and will ultimately help guide our statewide priorities.  Forward Communities have the potential to build lasting relationships and strengthen our collective voice.
