Larry Hogan set an excellent standard for leadership

“Last month, former Gov. Larry Hogan announced that he will not seek another term this cycle. While Maryland law would permit him to run again after time out of office, his decision marks the close of a significant chapter in our state’s political life…”


“Gov. Hogan led during a time when politics increasingly rewarded partisan theatrics over substance. He chose a different path. He focused on fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets and accountability to taxpayers. He worked across party lines without abandoning his principles, and he proved that calm, disciplined leadership could still earn the trust of voters in a deeply divided state.



That trust was especially evident in District 33B. Over multiple election cycles, voters here consistently supported Hogan by overwhelming margins. Even as statewide political dynamics shifted, his leadership remained popular and appreciated in our community. That support was not about party labels. It was about performance, temperament and respect for the people he served.


Those same values continue to guide my work in the Maryland General Assembly. During my time in office, I have sponsored and supported legislation focused on protecting constitutional freedoms, strengthening public safety and bringing greater accountability and common sense to state government. From advancing legislation that defends the free exercise of religion, to supporting juvenile justice reforms that emphasize responsibility and rehabilitation, to pushing back against policies that burden taxpayers without delivering results, my approach has been rooted in the same principles: results, not politics…”
