SUN: Baltimore County Council begins review of redistricting maps

“BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD (WBFF) — The Baltimore County Council is facing a busy next two months as it works toward adopting a new nine-district councilmanic map that better reflects the county’s diversity and keeps communities together.

But balancing what residents believe is best for their communities, along with ensuring that whatever plan is approved stands up to legal scrutiny, is not an easy task.”

“The months of work leading up to the council hearing directly from residents were challenging for the Baltimore County councilmanic redistricting commission, the seven-member panel tasked with drawing the new boundaries. It struggled to reach a consensus and faced pressure from residents as it worked to craft a final recommendation for the council.”
